Stream Advisory Issued for Salt Creek and the South Fork of the Ninnescah River

Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued a stream advisory for Salt Creek and the South Fork of the Ninnescah River from the 500 block of Pine Street, Kingman, to 100th Ave south of Murdoch, Kansas.

The stream advisory is a result of the release of 100,000 gallons of wastewater discharge. Staff have stopped the release and assessment and cleanup are in progress.

The advisory has been issued because potential contaminants may be present in Salt Creek and the South Fork of the Ninnescah River. No fish kill has been reported at this time. If you live or have activities near this stream, do not enter the stream or allow children or pets to enter the stream.

Kansas Department of Health & Environment will rescind the advisory once secondary (wading) contact has been deemed safe.
