Mission Health Communities Becomes 100% Employee-Owned Through ESOP

Employee Stock Ownership Plan invests in Mission Health’s workforce while supporting long-term stability, quality care, and continued growth

When we invest in our employees, we strengthen our teams. Stronger teams help us provide better care and create better experiences for residents and families.”
— Stuart Lindeman, President & CEO Mission Health LLC
TAMPA, FL, UNITED STATES, October 5, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Mission Health Communities (Mission Health, LLC), a leading provider of senior living and skilled rehabilitation at dozens of locations across the United States, has embarked on a new phase as a 100% employee-owned senior care organization with the establishment of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).

Eligible Mission Health employees can now share in the future value they help create while preserving the organization’s focus on high-quality resident care, strong communities, and long-term growth. The ESOP became effective January 1, 2026, with the ownership transaction announced in August.

Prior to the ESOP, Mission Health was privately held. Following a two-year planning and transaction process, the former owners sold their interests to an employee trust, making Mission Health 100% employee-owned. Mission Health considered partial employee ownership before determining that a full ESOP offered the strongest path forward for the organization and its employees.

“This transformation represents an investment in the people who make Mission Health what it is,” said Stuart Lindeman, President and CEO of Mission Health. “Our employees change the lives of residents and families for the better every day. As employee owners, they have a real stake in the future we’re building together.”

For Mission Health, the move to employee ownership is both a long-term ownership strategy and an investment in its workforce. The company expects the ESOP to strengthen its ability to recruit and retain employees, support career growth, and foster a deeper connection between employees, resident and patient care, and the organization’s performance. Lindeman has described employee ownership as a natural extension of Mission Health’s CARES Values of Character, Attitude, Respect, Excellence, and Service, which are the foundation of the Mission Experience.

“Senior care is, at its core, all about how people treat other people,” Lindeman added. “We want Mission Health to be a place where people can build careers, grow professionally, and know that the work they do makes a difference. When we invest in our employees, we strengthen our teams. Stronger teams help us provide better care and create better experiences for residents and families.”

The change in ownership does not change Mission Health’s day-to-day operations or its commitment to residents, families and partners. Executive leadership remains in place, and Mission Health will continue operating its communities with the same focus on quality care, service, and its CARES Values.

Through the ESOP, eligible employees receive Mission Health shares in an ESOP retirement account at no cost to them. The ESOP is an additional benefit and does not replace Mission Health’s existing 401(k) or other employee benefits. As the company performs and grows over time, the value of shares held in employees’ accounts has the potential to grow as well. Employees will become fully vested in the ownership plan after three years of service.

The ESOP transaction followed an extensive planning process involving the company and its former shareholders, an independent ESOP trustee, legal and financial advisors, lenders, landlords, and regulators in the states where Mission Health operates.

“We looked carefully at what would best position Mission Health for the future,” Lindeman said. “For all of us who owned the company, putting that future in the hands of the people who help make our Mission possible every day was the right next step. We’re proud to share that future with them.”
